This list shows the total running lengths of popular science fiction television and film series. It separates canon and non-canon where applicable. It also separates original canon from remakes. Note that this list contains only the officially released motion picture media (films and TV series) contained within the various science-fiction series. Additional unique motion-picture content from other media is included under the supplemental category. Some series may contain other media (books, comics, video games, etc.) which are not listed here. Most timings are approximate.

1. ↑  The Alien series by itself is 0:10:46; the Predator series by itself is 0:05:30 (counting Alien vs. Predator for both).
2. ↑  K-9 Adventures, a children's series starring K-9, has been announced, but it is not clear whether it will be part of the Doctor Who canon, as it is not being produced by the BBC.
3. ↑  Various plans for more Serenity or Firefly on television or film have been rumored, but nothing has yet been confirmed.
4. ↑  A remake of the film has been announced for 2007.
5. ↑  A new Star Trek film, to be written and directed by J. J. Abrams, has been announced, but has not yet entered production.

7. ↑  A 3-D continuation of this animated series is currently in pre-production.
8. ↑  The live-action Star Wars television series was scheduled to enter pre-production in January 2006, but it is not clear whether it has done so.
9. ↑  A script for a fourth Terminator film has apparently been written and approved by the studio[10], but it is unclear when or if it will enter production. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not scheduled to appear in the film[11].
