Lemuria may refer to:

  • In Roman religion Lemuria is the Feast of the Lemures, during which the unwholesome and malevolent spectres of the restless dead (lemures) were propitiated.
  • Lemuria is the name given by 19th century geologist Philip Sclater to a hypothetical land mass in the Indian Ocean that was required, before the understanding of plate tectonics, to account for similarities between fauna in India and Madagascar. The name derived from the lemurs that are endemic to Madagascar, who received their name from their nocturnal habits and spectral night howling. Later, others gave the name Lemuria to a lost continent of the Pacific.
  • Lemuria is also the name of an album released by the Swedish symphonic metal band Therion in 2004.
  • In the video game series Golden Sun, Lemuria is a mysterious island hidden in mist, in which the people live extremely long lives and can each perform Psynergy.
  • Lemuria is a RPG world, designed for the d20 Modern game by Swedes Anders Blixt and Krister Sundelin and published in 2004.
  • Lemuria is the name of a Belgian Folk Metal band who released their first album named Tales, Ale and Fire in 2005.
  • In the fiction of Robert E. Howard, Lemuria is considered even more ancient than Atlantis. Just as Atlantis is considered the lost continent of the Atlantic, Lemuria is hidden beneath the Pacific due to catastrophe, with the topmost peaks surviving as Pacific islands.
  • Bal-Sagoth, a British battle metal band, released an album called A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria.
  • In the Marvel Universe there are two locations referred to as Lemuria; one is an underwater nation populated by an offshoot of the homo mermanus race, and the other is an underground city-state of the Deviant race.
  • A character in the TV reality series called Who Wants to be a Superhero?
