Homemade lemon curd

Lemon curd is a custard-like dessert sauce made with eggs, lemon juice and zest, sugar, and butter. It goes well with scones, short breads, and muffins, and can be used as a filling for cakes or tarts. It may also be spread on bread or toast. The Dutch liquer advocaat is sometimes added during making. It imparts a rounded flavour and is often used in the jam version of lemon curd.
