Lemon Bay High School

Lemon Bay High School is a high school located in Englewood, Florida.
The goal of Lemon Bay High School, according to its website:

"The mission of Lemon Bay High School is to inspire students, teachers, and parents to form a community of learners to promote excellence through a varied curriculum, to provide the tools necessary to foster positive contributions to our society and instill a commitment to academic and personal achievement."

Lemon Bay was built in 1981. In the same year, the school had its first graduating class.
The school started as a few buildings, but has since grown immensely. Since it was built, the school has added or updated its auditrium, gymnasium, wieght room, cafeteria and classrooms (many of which are held in portables).

The standard English, math, science and history courses are mandatory for students. The four basic courses can all be taken at Advanced Placement level (which is the equivelent of one college credit)or honors level .

Many electives are also available including television production, drafting, journalism, foriegn languages and physical education courses.

Theater
The theater program is run by Jen Kelly. The theater program puts on several productions during the school year, along with one during the summer in which elementary and junior high students participate. In the past, the theater program has put on prooductions such as The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma! and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

NJROTC
The NJROTC is a program set up by the United States Navy. Students in NJROTC wear a modified U.S. Navy uniform once a week and, as part of curriculum, must pass a physical education test once every nine weeks.

Band
The band is made up of Marching Band, garage band and jazz band.
The band is run by its director and several student leaders and puts on concerts every few months.

For home sports games, Lemon Bay has a track, football field, baseball fields, swimming pool and gynasium (for wrestling, basketball, etc).

The school has many clubs, most of which meet weekly. The school also holds a "club day" during school every other month, in which students take time from school for club activities. Most clubs engage in community service.
