Jonathan Wilshere, The Town Gates and Bridges of Mediaeval Leicester. I've also got a booklet on Saxon and Mediaeval Leicester, which I'll ransack eventually. Thanks for the work! I have to confess I did most of this article from memory. My next task is going to be more modern stuff - particularly needs more city centre fringe (i'm particularly thinking the stuff on the humberstone road roundabout) - there are two strip malls there. 82.3.32.73 21:42, 31 August 2005 (UTC) (soon to be a resident of St George's South).
[1] has the list of conservation areas
the ones in the city centre are i think
- All Saints'
- Castle Gardens
- Cathedral-Guildhall
- High Street
- Market Place
- Market Street
- New Walk

The Character Statements for the areas above are excellent sources of well-researched local history. Morwen - Talk
[edit] The Athena
