Leimebamba is a district of the province of Chachapoyas. It is in the zone norcentral of Peru, department of the Amazon, in the vale of Utcubamba, to 60 kilometers to the south of Chachapoyas. To approximately 2,000 meters on the level of the sea, the vale is warm and it presents a tropical exuberance. Although it can rain in any epoch of the year, during June to September the climate is moderately dry.

Leymebamba is located in the mountain on the banks of the River Utcubamba. Leymebamba offers several attractive places as ruins, the Lagoon of the Condors, the Museum Leymebamba, where it is possible to find information about flora and fauna of the zone, also it is possible to see the mummies of the Lagoon of the Condors and the Quipus found in the zone.

To come to Leymebamba a car takes in the city of Chachapoyas or in Cajamarca.

The management holidays of the capital Leymebamba it is celebrated on August 28, the holiday of San Augustin. Another very big holiday for the people is the holiday of the Virgin of Carmen, on July 16.

Leymebamba is a head office of a parish that is attended by two Priests of the Diocese of Chachapoyas.

In the north the District of Leymebamba has border with the District of San Francisco of the Plaster, in the East with the District of Huicungo, in the south with the District of Chuquibamba (Chachapoyas) and the Region St Martin, in the west with the District of Rafts (Chachapoyas).
