[edit] Canadian Federation of Students
"4 February 2004 was labelled the National Day of Action, as students from across Canada held demonstrations organized by the CFS, in protest to the skyrocketing tuition fees. This ongoing effort since CFS's founding has thus led to the tuition fee freezes for students in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador. This year(2004-2005) is the first time in a while that the majority of students in Canada are not facing an increase in tuition fees."
It is an opinion that tuition fees are skyrocketing, along with the so-called results. Spinboy 04:28, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I agree, it is one of those things which will never be fully neutral, but we can strive to get it as neutral as possible. Spinboy 17:37, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Name
I wanted to drop you a note to let you know I like your user name. Legolas is one of my favourite LOTR characters. Spinboy 07:23, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I think it's an origional name. I haven't read the LOTR books, but I have read The Hobbit and seen the LOTR movies. He's one cool character. Spinboy 17:37, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)
True, but he is a good character. Spinboy 04:13, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Hockey players
Sorry, but the notes were in violation of Wikipedia policy. Notes for editors do not belong in articles. Everything in an article should be for the reader, not for us editors. I thus replaced it with Wikipedia:List of unformatted ice hockey players, a list is no harder to use for a project like this and causes no pollution in articles. If you feel a template message is essential it should go in the talk page. - SimonP 02:20, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] 2004 - Taiwan Presidential Election
I noticed that during the revision '02:11, 23 Nov 2004' for the 2004 page, where your comment text was "a few more removals...i thought britney spear's 'wedding' has been removed already...," you added quotes around the word 'shot' in the entry regarding the Taiwan Presidental Election. (I am new to the wiki, so my sincere apologies if I misattributed the change.) This it seems like the quotes by them selves serve only to confuse those not familiar with the topic. Perhaps a more appropriate entry would be
- March 20 - President Chen Shui-bian wins the Taiwanese presidential election by 0.2% of the vote. The day before, he and Vice President Annette Lu were shot. Lien Chan refuses to concede and demands a recount. A controversial 'peace referendum' opposed by the People's Republic of China is invalidated.
since this links to a page where the issue is more fully fleshed out. --64.5.123.248 18:37, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Cheers
Nice revisions you did to the InuYasha article! I'm afraid the only thing I'm good for it is copyediting ;) Reene (リニ) 01:57, Dec 5, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Piece values in Xiangqi
Hello! I didn't understand why you removed a section about piece values from Xiangqi article. I think this information is very usefull and you find the same numbers for example in rec.games.chinese-chess FAQ You are certainly right about "Soldier on the middle line", I already removed such entry from Xiangqi article in German Wikipedia. [edit] Seattle--"whitest"
You wrote in your editorial comments field: "(→Demographics - ...if you had a 'whitest city', then would you also have a 'blackest city'? -___- ...that borders on racism buddy... anyways i have made improvements)" ... that borders on racism buddy? How, exactly? --Lukobe 05:17, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
- In response to your response on my page:
This is an encyclopedia, wordings such as whitest, blackest to describe people are just not polite in the view of the general public, and i believe that's why over the years media have changed their wording to 'African-American, Latin-American, Chinese-American', etc. If you were to call a city 'blackest', what does that imply? Of course the definition of racism may be very different from person to person, but in my opinion comparing 'white-ness' of a city is not very appropriate, especially in an encyclopedia of Wiki's nature. LG-犬夜叉 11:40, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)
-
- I disagree with your contention that "whitest" and "blackest" are not polite in the view of the general public. The proliferation of hyphenated-American terms is the result of political correctness. And I am saying this as a Jewish Korean American! To call a city "blackest" means "most black" means "highest percentage of black people" means "highest percentage of people of African descent"; it's as simple as that. I don't think this is racist in the least. --Lukobe 02:12, Jan 19, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Inuyasha character template
- I notice that you added Hojo to the Inuyasha character template. Good thinking! Is there a particular reason why you moved Sota to the end, though? I think it may disturb the order a bit. Josh 19:58, Jan 13, 2005 (UTC)
- Excellent idea! I like the modern character section that you added. Josh 02:35, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Honorifics and titles
Would you take a look at User:Ford/proposals, regarding the honorifics issue? Any comments are welcome, though I am primarily trying to ascertain if there is a sufficient level of discontent with current practice, which is the widespread inclusion of honorifics and unnecessary titles in articles. Thanks.

[edit] category: InuYasha items
The purpose of it is sort of to link the objects to Category:Fictional objects as well as to Category:InuYasha. Basically it was an efficiency thing (I am a programmer, I tend to think of things in efficiency sense). Delete it if you wish, but I think for those that don't have Category:Fictional swords, then I guess we should link to Fictional objects. -- EmperorBMA|話す 04:33, 10 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tessaiga
I agree that Tessaiga is a better term to use than Tetsusaiga, but before you start changing instances that you see on other pages, might I suggest that you look at Talk:Tetsusaiga and this argument on the Manual of Style talk page. We already had a discussion about this, and it was decided that we should use Tetsusaiga because it is more common. Not that we couldn't reopen the discussion, I just wanted to make sure that you knew some background. Josh 07:50, Feb 18, 2005 (UTC)
- As I said, I agree completely that we should use Tessaiga because it is the correct romanization. If you want to actually change anything, though, you should try to convince the people who supported Tetsusaiga before. Otherwise, I suspect that they will revert such changes. You are definitely right that the Manual of Style discussion never exactly concluded. I suggested then that we should make a clearer policy about this, but that was never done. Josh 02:42, Feb 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, and one other thing that I forgot. If you do decide to post something about it, let me know, and possibly User:Reene too. She was one of the main supporters of Tessaiga the last time around. Josh 02:54, Feb 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, on second thought, you probably shouldn't bother Reene. It looks like she is taking a WikiVacation. Josh 03:06, Feb 19, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] yuan dynasty
hey thanx. I was wondering if the original author's intent was that Yuan dynasty was the shortest foreign dynasty in chinese history, with Qing dynasty being much longer. Wareware 08:24, 27 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Kil'jaeden
Hey, I'm user 68.212.255.80 whose version of this article you edited. As I said in the history of that page, I did not copy that from the official website nor from any thing else, for that matter. I know you didn't mean to do this, but I was really complimented when you mistook my writing for professional work. ^___^ Makes me all warm and fuzzy. I guess my fourth grade English teacher really didn't know what the heck she was talking about XD!

"I see. You must have got the WarCraft III Battle Chest, the one that comes with both games and strategy guides. Cool." No, but I'm a pack-rat and can't stand to throw away anything that comes with a package and could be potentially useful. It doesn't matter either way. Thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. [edit] Vancouver photos
Well I tried several text sizes & screen widths & the photo was always between the text table & the table of contents - filling in that empty gap there. I use IE6, what browser are you using? I have 1600x1200, but tried other widths too. Where'd it end up on your screen? Look at September 11, 2001 attacks - is that a problem too?--JimWae 07:22, 2005 Apr 6 (UTC)

[edit] Taiwan vs. ROC
Regarding your vote and edit summary (oppose.."Taiwan" is much more common than "ROC") at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Chinese)/NPOV/Taiwan vs. ROC, please be informed that the moves are to stick with the current naming conventions. Thanks. — Instantnood 08:20, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)
- You're right, but at the same time NPOV, appropriateness and accuracy is also very important. And this is exactly what Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese)#Political NPOV addresses. The current poll is to deal with the enforcement of the political NPOV section of the naming conventions on Chinese-related topics. Please do not vote against them because you do not agree with the conventions. Thanks. — Instantnood 18:53, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)
- I respect your right to vote, and I am not saying you cannot vote in this way. But I am afraid you might have misunderstood the purpose of the polls. They are for enforcement of the current set of naming conventions. If you disagree with it, you can propose to change it, rather than making pages not following it. — Instantnood 19:07, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)
- There's an option to support or oppose because each entry is different, and we have to decide on which entries fit the naming conventions by a poll. If you believe it's better to call it Taiwan rather than ROC please suggest it at the discussion page of the naming conventions. You may also be interested to have a look at the previous discussions on Taiwan vs. ROC at Wikipedia_talk:Naming conventions (Chinese)/archive4 (from section 7 to the end of the page). — Instantnood 19:23, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)
- Leave them, the ambiguity is exactly why they should stay. Readers shouldn't need to read a thesis on the political status of taiwan before searching for information about it. SchmuckyTheCat 20:35, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Star Wars Wiki
Seeing how much of a good Wikipedian you are, and a fan of Star Wars, I invite you to join us at Star Wars Wiki aka Wookieepedia and help contribute. We are need of people who can get stuff copied from Wikipedia that would not normally be suitable here. Also there is a lot of formatting that needs to be done in a process dubbed Wookification. See you there. :) -- Riffsyphon1024 04:13, Apr 10, 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invitation. Though I must let you know that I am a relative newcomer to the Star Wars universe, however I have known about it for quite a long time.
I will try my best to contribute, starting next week .. (exam time...trying to stay away from "distractions"). LG-犬夜叉 19:43, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)

- I respect your need to study for exams. I have a crapload of wicked things coming this way soon to work on and study for. See you at Wookieepedia soon. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:50, Apr 12, 2005 (UTC)

Sorry if your user pages history is a mess, feel free to contact me if you need anything else.--Andeh 17:22, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well it cleans up everyones user page, if the extra history really does bother you, you can ask an admin to delete it for you.--Andeh 17:27, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] reese witherspoon pic
You said: "My thinking in adding that pic to her page is that, since we do not have any other pics to show for, why not just display that one for the time being? It's a full body shot and gives the page some color, looks nice and it was her signature movie."
- Sorry, we can't use it that way. The license for DVD images permits their use only to illustrate the DVD in question, not to depict the person. --Yamla 20:12, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
