I believe that the filming in Tucson was done specifically at Old Tucson Studios but cannot swear to that 100%.

[edit] Bartok based on Tesla?

I sometimes wondered if the character Bartok was based on the real-life inventor Nikola Tesla. Both were from eastern Europe, and in at least one episode Bartok expressed dislike of Thomas Edison, as was probably the real-life case with Tesla on more than one occasion. I no longer have the e-mails and source material to prove it, but I'm pretty confident that co-creator Bill Dial has specifically acknowledged that he and co-creator Michael Piller patterned Bartok on Tesla. In addition to the points you cite, Tesla did a lot of work with alternating current electricity that resembles some of the devices in Bartok's workshop.
