[edit] Storyline
[edit] 2001
Alpha Team is composed of Dash, the team leader, Cam, Flex, Radia, Charge and Crunch, along with a robot named TeeVee, who looks like a television with legs. Alpha Team fight a criminal mastermind named Ogel. In the original storyline, Ogel was brainwashing people with Mind Control Orbs. These Orbs turned normal people into mindless Skeleton Drones. Ogel was defeated, and the Drones were reverted to normal with the destruction of the Orbs.
[edit] 2002-2005
In 2002, the line was renamed "Alpha Team: Mission Deep Sea" This time, Alpha Team had to battle Ogel and his army of more evil-looking drones underwater. Ogel had created a new type of Mind Control Orb, which mutated sea creatures to serve his bidding. Alpha Team defeated Ogel when Dash reversed the factory controls causing all the mutant creatures to revert to normal. In 2004, Alpha Team was massively revised. The team symbol was changed. Many of the characters had different appearances than in previous years. Cam and Crunch seem to have been replaced by agent's Arrow and Diamond Tooth. However, it could be that Alpha Team has more agents than previously thought, this is evidenced by Zed and Gearbox, and Crunch and Cam were merely not assigned to this mission. TeeVee became a humanoid robot as well. Ogel now has one ice hook. Alpha Team vehicles were given a new feature known as Alpha Mode: Vehicles could be transformed without any dissasembly. See Alpha Mode Chart. This year Ogel had a completely different plan: He was using new Ice Orbs to freeze the world. Alpha Team tracked him to Antarctica, where he succeeded in freezing Alpha Team, the rest of the world, and even time itself. They were saved by Zed, an Alpha Team special agent, who was protected from the time freeze due to his vehicle which was equipped for such an event. He defrosted the agents, and then battled Ogel's Scorpion Orb Launcher. The LEGO Magazine invited members to send in submissions of what they thought would happen in the battle, although they were not published in the magazine, and members did not see the end of the battle. It is assumed that Zed defeated Ogel.
[edit] Characters
[edit] Alpha Team
- Dash Justice: Motion Expert and Team Leader.
- Crunch: Explosives Expert. Replaced by Diamond Tooth in 2004.
- Radia: Lasers Expert. She controls the cockpit area in the Mobile Command Center.
- Charge: Electricity Expert. His gloves apparently allow him to fly with jets in them, as shown on the cover of the video game. It is also said that Charge is the second in command because of Dash's and Charge's alikeness in suits.
- Cam Attaway: Motors Expert. Replaced by Arrow in 2004
- Flex: Ropes expert.
- Tee Vee: Robot assistant of Alpha Team.
- Arrow: Motors Expert. Replaced Cam in 2004.
- Diamond Tooth: Explosives Expert. Replaced Crunch in 2004. He drives the Tundra Tracker.
- Gearbox: All that is known about this agent is that he built the Tundra Tracker.
- Zed: Special agent and the pilot of the Blizzard Blaster.
[edit] Ogel
- Ogel: The ruthless supervillain of the series [1]. He has been the main villain in each year of the series, constantly coming up with schemes to defeat Alpha Team. His first plot was to use Mind Control Orbs to turn regular people into mindless skeleton-like Drones. These Drones were reverted to normal when the Orbs were destroyed. Ogel returned the following year with a new plan to use mutated sea creatures to control the world's oceans. That plan was thwarted when Agent Dash reversed the controls to the Orb making machine. Ogel's underwater base was destroyed, but Ogel escaped before it exploded. His most recent plan for domination was freezing the world with new Ice Orbs that could freeze anything. His plan succeeded, but he was then stopped by special agent Zed in his Blizzard Blaster. He is (or at least was) in love with Radia.[2] Greg Farshtey, the writer of Bionicle, Lego Exo-Force, and Alpha Team, among others, has stated that he is his favorite non-Bionicle villain.
- Skeleton Drones: Ogel's minions, who are people who have been effected by Mind Control Orbs. Their appearance changes numerous times during the series.
- Super Ice Drone: A Skeleton Drone with a black head that pilots the Scorpion Orb Laucher. Possibly a robot.
[edit] Alpha Team Vehicles
[edit] Arctic
- The Mobile Command Center: is the most heavily armed vehicle of the Alpha Team. The four agents on board are Tee Vee, Charge, Arrow, and Radia. The Mobile Command Center contains two solar lasers, tools, and a missile launcher, though in the online game it only fires a large, combined, and more powerful laser than the rest of the Alpha Team vehicles. When it is in "Alpha Mode", it turns into an heavily armed command center. Two Snow Scooters accompany the vehicle. This vehicle is used to locate Ogel's bases, spy and/or give information. It also has an Ice Orb Claw used to deactivate Ice Orbs. It's code is 4746.
- The Blizzard Blaster: as another vehicle of Alpha Team. It has twin solar lasers, dual energy lasers, an ice missile launcher, and a heat energy beam. Zed, a special agent of Alpha Team, uses the machine to battle Ogel's Scorpion Orb Launcher and the Super Ice Drone. In this battle, the LEGO magazine didn't reveal who won. The Blizzard Blaster transforms into the Ice Shark when in Alpha Mode.
- The Tundra Tracker: contains twin solar lasers and a magma powered drill when in Alpha Mode. The code name is 4744 and is one of Alpha Team's original vehicles. The vehicle was used for a variety of drilling missions. In a Lego Magazine, it was said that an agent called Gearbox built and designed the vehicle. Agent Diamond Tooth pilots this vehicle.
- The Chill Speeder: is a small, swift speeder mainly for Alpha Team's recon missions. When Alpha Mode is activated the speeder transforms into a light all-terrain walker called the X-1 Snowbot Defender. It is equipped with twin solar lasers and is used by Agent Flex. Its code is 4742.
- The Ice Blade: is a swift vehicle that speeds on ice with a blade. In Alpha Mode, it transforms into the stealth IC-2 Helicopter. It is equipped with twin solar lasers. It is controlled by what they mistaken as Arrow. The fact is, the red sleeved guy is Charge.
- The Blue Eagle is a fast, highly maneuverable jet with dual wing tipped claws, and in Alpha Mode becomes the Ice Glider. It is piloted by Agent Dash.
- The Solar Speeder is a fast, wheeled vehicle that is more or less used to infiltrate Ogel's Mountain Fortress. In Alpha Mode it reveals a missile launcher which is aimed a pillar on Ogel's fortress to open the gate. It is also used by Dash.
[edit] Mission Deep Sea
- The AT Command Patrol is Alpha Team's largest undersea vehicle. It can fire off two Robot Divers, similar to Charge's, if necessary. It can be compared to Alpha Team's "Mobile Command Center". A unique feature of this set is somewhat similar to Alpha Mode: the front and rear end of the set could split and from the middle and combine to form a smaller sub.
- The Sub-Surface Scooter is a small and nimble craft piloted by Agent Flex. His expertise in roping is evidencedby the rear-mounted roping device on the rear of the craft.
- The AT Aquatic Mech was a limited release set for Mission Deep Sea. It featured Tee Vee as an ROV and the pilot of the vehicle was Dash.
- The Cam Wing Diver was a limited release set featured exclusively in Japan packaged with Kabaya sweets. Due to its limited production amount and location, the set is very rare in comparison with the other limited edition sets. It included a Cam minifig.
- The AT Navigator and ROV was a moderate sized AT craft with two thin robot arms. It featured Cam and Tee Vee in a ROV format and was similar in shape to the AT Command Patrol except for the omission of the middle area.
- The AT Jet Sub, also referred to as the Dash Jet Sub was a limited release set. It was packaged with Kabaya sweets in Japan. It was a fairly small set and featured Dash.
- The AT Robot Diver was a small set that featured Charge. Other sets include this set in theirs. For example, the AT Command Patrol featured 2 non-customized Robot Divers. It also is used in the AT Aquatic Mech, where 2 Robot Diver shells make up the legs.
- The AT Sub is a small, quick craft that is piloted by Dash and was in Ogel's Underwater Base. It had a small spear missile on the propellor.
[edit] 2001/Original
- The AT Bomb Squad is Alpha Team's main weapon to destroy Evil Orbs. Charge drives the main 4x4 while Crunch mans the missile truck. TeeVee controls a smaller craft with a claw that deactivates the orbs. They are then put into a crate on a device which Crunch shoots a target on, springing the Evil Orb in the air and putting it out of commission.
- The AT ATV is smaller vehicle group than the bomb squad, but nonetheless, formidable. The ATV(all-terrain vehicle) traverses and terrain in encounters, towing a mini-sub. Flex mans the ATV while Cam pilots the sub.
[edit] Evil Orbs
An Evil Orb is Ogel's main tool for all the missions. There are three types.
- Mind Control Orb: This orb takes control of ordinary Lego Town citizens and turns them into skeleton-like mindless drones.
- Mind Control Orb 2.0: Same as first, only it also allows Ogel to take over sea creatures minds as well as humans (in the Into The Deep webtoon on the Alpha Team website, Cam mentioned that Ogel re-engineered the orbs so that they caused mutations).
- Ice Orb: Freezes anything it touches.
[edit] Ogel Bases
Ogel has had several bases in the series.
- Ogel Island Laboratory: Ogel grows the plants used in the evil orbs here in his massive greenhouses and ships them out in Plant Shipping Crates. They are sent out by his Trouble Train.
- Goo Caverns: Ogel harvests the goo used in the evil orbs here which are put in barrels. Both Plant Shipping Crates and barrels of goo are put in his Trouble Sub and shipped to the next base.
- Ogel's Undersea Base: The plants and goo are unloaded from his Trouble Sub. Also, all the components of the evil orbs are put together here, at the D.O.O.M.(Device for Ominous Orb Manufacture) Machine.
- Ogel's Hidden Arctic Base: Ogel loads the evil orbs from his undersea base onto the Boggle Rocket here. His plan was to launch them all over the world and turn everyone into his slave.
[edit] Bases Found in Sets
Ogel has several bases in the form of LEGO sets.
- Ogel Control Center: Ogel and his drones load Evil Orbs into Ogel's rocket, allowing him to drop them on civilians and turn the world into his slave. This set differs from the other bases as Dash usually makes a second appearance in a smaller vehicle. In this base he was not featured as such.
- Ogel's Mission Deep Sea Base: This base allows Ogel to fire menacing Evil Orb Missiles at unsuspecting AT agents by surprise. It sports a missile launcher, 2 Skeleton Drones, 2 Orb Missiles, and Evil Orb, and Ogel as defense forces. This set also featured Dash in his AT Sub.
- Ogel Mountain Fortress
This is where ice orbs are created and where Ogel hatches the plan to freeze the world. In the set, it includes Ogel, two drones, and two Alpha team agents: Arrow and Dash. The set also includes the solar speeder: the Alpha team scout vehicle equipt with only a missile launcher that can open the gate of Ogel's fortress.
[edit] Games
The Alpha team storyline has been mainly told through various games. There was a video game released in 2000 in which Agent Dash had to rescue the other Alpha Team members from Ogel and stop production of the mind control orbs. As he rescued each agent, you could use them too, in certain levels. The last level, "Mission Control", involved stopping his Boggle Rocket from takeoff to deny Ogel world domination. There were also several online games made using Macromedia Flash.
- The first centered around Dash and Cam thwarting Ogel's plan to control the world's weather.
- The second starred Dash, Cam, Radia, TeeVee and the Mission Deep Sea. This one has included sound (the characters spoke instead of dialogue bubbles).
- The next was a three-part game centering around the 2004/2005 storyline. Unlike the other two games, which centered around the characters solving various puzzles, this game centered more about the vehicles, although agents could get out to infiltrate Ogel's bases.

[edit] Trivia
- "Ogel" is LEGO spelled backwards. In an issue of the LEGO Club Magazine, it was explained that this was due to him representing the exact opposite of LEGO (LEGO is fun, Ogel hates fun, etc).
- The original Alpha Team video game was developed for LEGO Media by the award-winning special effects company Digital Domain.
- When the original video game was in development, its working title was "LEGO Logic," and the team was called "TILT (Trans-International Lego Team)."
- Ogel has also mentioned as being a direct descendant of Vladek, the villain in LEGO Knights Kingdom series. [3]. It states that Vladek is his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather.
