Legends Tour
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legends Tour, which was known as the Women's Senior Golf Tour before the 2006 season, [1] is a professional golf tour for women aged 45 and older. It is based in the United States, and is an offshoot of the main U.S. based women's tour, the LPGA Tour. The tour was founded in 2001, and is intended to allow women to prolong their competitive golf careers on the model of the successful Champions Tour for men. The age limit is however five years lower than on the Champions Tour.
The tour is still embryonic, and has played thirteen events in its first five seasons from 2001 to 2005. According to its website, the tour has over a hundred members, who have won over six hundred LPGA Tour events among them.
