Once the game has been completed, the player is free to replay the story mode or battle modes the game with the freedom to use any characters and forms they choose in any of the given battles, e.g Super Saiyan 3 Goku v.s Frieza, or Guldo v.s Evil King Piccolo. Also, two extra stories involoving future Trunks can be opened to gain a few extra cards.

There are also three extra slots. They appear in slots 28, 29, and 30. They contain no characters, although many fan theories have been put out about what characters are supposed to occupy those slots although none of these have been proven thus far, the most popular seem to be Tien, Yamcha and Chaozu.

[edit] Fan Reaction

The game has a very large fan base for sprite work because the 8-bit sprites are so easy to edit and recolour allowing improved graphics or brand new sprites all together e.g Broly, Bardock, Coola, making these sprites ideal for simple fan comics, animations or games.

This game was one of the final gameboy color games to be released, and has been released in English, American (two different translation teams) and Japanese. It is also the only Dragon Ball Z game on the gameboy color (the previous two being for black & white gameboy, and the next one to be legacy of goku for gameboy advance). This game is also quite popular, probably because it features collectable cards and lots of characters.

The game has some additional sprites in its memory banks that aren't used at all in the game. These include; Cell sprite performing Spirit Bomb, a crudely drawn Krillin, Burters Ginyu Pose (unused since he doesn't have a unique beam attack) and many more.
