Cameron “Buck” Williams, played by Kirk Cameron, is a young, smart, and handsome man who has found himself thrust into the center of a global crisis. A talented television reporter, Buck was quickly recruited by Nicolae Carpathia – the Antichrist himself – to be a lead reporter for the Global Network News. Buck is learning how to use his connections with the GNN to further the cause of the Tribulation Force and help people across the globe who desperately need to know Jesus Christ.
Rayford Steele Captain Rayford Steele, played by Brad Johnson, found himself without a wife and a son after the Rapture. When he realized that both he and his daughter, Chloe Steele, were left behind, Rayford quickly discovered the truth of Jesus Christ. Now, Rayford has found himself in a key position as the pilot of GC1 – the Global Community’s equivalent of Air Force One. As a Christian and a member of the Tribulation Force, Rayford was reluctant to take a position as the Antichrist’s personal pilot, until he realized that God could use him in this key spot to warn other believers of Nicolae’s plans.
Pastor Bruce Barnes Pastor Bruce Barnes, played by Arnold Pinnock, is the pastor of New Hope Church and a leader of the Tribulation Force. Pastor Barnes was left behind after the Rapture, and shamefully admitted that he never believed what he preached to his congregation week after week. With study and prayer, Pastor Barnes discovered that the Bible is the true Word of God and the coming Tribulation is real. Now, he is leading the fight to share the truth of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible before Nicolae Carpathia clamps down on religion altogether. But for Pastor Barnes, the fight is about to get much tougher than he ever imagined.
Chloe Steele Chloe Steele, played by Janaya Stephens, is the daughter of Rayford Steele. She was a college student when the Rapture occurred, and was not prepared for the tragedy that entered her life. Struggling with the loss of her mother and brother, and dealing with a dysfunctional relationship with her father, Chloe soon found that her only hope was in the truth of Jesus Christ. Today, she and her father have a strong relationship as they work together in the Tribulation Force. In the midst of turmoil and chaos, Chloe also found an unexpected surprise – a budding romance with the young reporter, Buck Williams.
Hattie Durham Hattie Durham, played by Chelsea Noble, was a beautiful flight attendant working with Rayford Steele when the Rapture happened. She and Rayford shared a brief romantic interest, which was quickly stifled by global catastrophe. Rayford repented of his interest in Hattie, but Hattie never got over the rejection. She soon found comfort in the arms of the most dangerous man on earth – Nicolae Carpathia. She now works as his personal assistant in the Global Community, and has an uneasy and mostly civil relationship with Rayford Steele.
President Gerald Fitzhugh Gerald Fitzhugh, played by Louis Gossett Jr., is the President of the United States. As President during the most tumultuous time in the country’s history, Gerald finds himself in a very uncomfortable position. He has befriended Nicolae Carpathia, U.N. Secretary General, but is quickly discovering this friendship is more costly than he imagined. He is now faced with a grave decision: Does he continue on the path he has placed the country on, or does he step back and search for the unsettling truth that he suspects is just within his grasp?
Nicolae Carpathia Nicolae Carpathia, played by Gordon Currie, is a charismatic, handsome, and eloquent world leader who is both the U.N. Secretary General and head of the Global Community. He rose to power after the Rapture. A desperate world searching for answers found comfort in his intelligence, his calm demeanor, and his plans for world peace. Although Nicolae has rallied the support of the world leaders, a group of people known as the Tribulation Force recognizes him for who he really is: the Antichrist prophesied in the Bible.
Amanda White Amanda White, played by Laura Catalano, is Rayford Steele’s new love interest. A kind and caring woman with a very compassionate heart and a deep love for Christ, Amanda reaches out to everyone God places in her path – including Hattie Durham.
Carolyn Miller Carolyn Miller, played by Jessica Steen, is esteemed journalist Eric Miller’s widow. Eric died in a mysterious accident that became the source of intrigue and suspicion. [edit] Churches Used For Theatres
When LEFT BEHIND: World at War releases this October, it will open on at least as many screens as the biggest Hollywood films. There will just be one difference: It will open on screens in churches, universities, High Schools – everywhere there are projection systems and Christians with a passion for outreach. The doors leading into the viewing areas will need to be equipped with reinforced frames as the decreased air pressure inside, due to the immense sucking power of the film, may cause standard frames to buckle.
Church Film Nights Back with a Bang!
It is all the vision of Cloud Ten’s Peter and Paul Lalonde, who believe that LEFT BEHIND: World at War offers the a once-in-a generation opportunity to revive and rebuild one of the great evangelistic outreaches of the 70’s and 80’s – The Church Theatrical Release.
Although the days of the 16MM film rentals ended with the advent of VHS, those of us old enough to remember look back nostalgically at the nights of community outreach. Cloud Ten wants to revive that effective and entertaining outreach tool. And there is no better place to begin than with LEFT BEHIND: World at War – the third film in the wildly popular LEFT BEHIND film series.
Taking Hollywood to Church
Peter and Paul’s goal is to now follow up The Passion of the Christ’s success with a Theatrical release as big as any Hollywood film but through an alternative distribution system -- our churches.
“We have the support of a major studio and the keen interest of every major studio in seeing how this works” says the elder brother Peter. “If this takes off -- and we are convinced it will with the support of Pastors, Youth Pastors and Outreach ministries -- the studios are telling us they will want to incorporate this entirely new delivery vehicle into their distribution model. But here’s the gem of it all: they will have to start making movies that Pastors will play in their churches.”
“Does it mean studios will be making all Christian films? Of course not,” adds Paul. “But they will be making some. This is an opportunity to really get into the core of the machine that drives our culture.”
