Lefkotopos

Lefkotopos is a village of the Serres prefecture in Greece. It has 263 inhabitants. Lefkotopos is situated the KEP (Citizens Servicing Center) of the municipality of Achinos.

The village was founded on 1922, by Pontians and by the Greek inhabitants of north-east Anatolia ("Pontus"), an area whose population had been Greek since early Greek history, and which was expelled from their homes in 1922, by the Turks, who occupied Pontus some time after 1453.

The inhabitants of the village are mostly farmers who grow tobacco, olives, tomatoes, and aromatic plants.

The village has a very good infra-structure, many natural beauties and is a paradise for relaxation. It has a healthy climate, near the mountain Kerdyllia, and between Mavrothalassa and Nigrita, on the street which leads to Serres, the capital of the Prefecture. It is about 35 km (22 miles) from the sea, 40 km (25 miles) from Serres, 40 km 55 km (35 miles) from Kavala and 90 km (55 miles) from Thessaloniki.
