Ledsham, West Yorkshire

Ledsham is a village 7 km (4 miles) north of Castleford and 19 km (11 miles) east of Leeds in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The village is in the Leeds metropolitan area and near by the River Aire and the A1 Great North Road.
There is an 8th century Anglo-Saxon church, and nearby Ledston Hall.
The name Ledsham, and nearby Ledston, contain an element of the original name of Leeds, "Loidis" which became "Ledes", which was applied to the district not to a single place or settlement.
