- I just read the VfD discussion. This still looks like a worthless neologism for least common denominator, a term that has been in use for centuries. For the life of me I'll never understand why people think it's so important that their invented terminology make it into the Wikipedia. Maybe it serves as validation for them. One thing's for sure: Encyclopaedia Britannica will never have an article on "lecnacing." Britannica 1, Wikipedia 0. --Ardonik.talk() 05:52, Sep 8, 2004 (UTC)
Lecnac is not a neoligism for least common denominator as a proper reading of the definition will reveal. Lecnacing is a verb and therefore describes a process - the process of increasing numerator and denominator in equal proportion to give an equivalent fraction, whereas lowest common denominator is a noun referring to the smallest denominator that may be used in the processes of adding, subtracting or comparing two fractions.
