"Leaving Here" (1977) |
"Motörhead" 1977 |
"Leaving Here" is the debut single of the heavy metal band Motörhead. Despite it's being their first single, the band were already at their fourth line up when they recorded the songs. Released only in 7" vinyl formats, "Leaving Here" later appeared on their No Remorse compilation album. The first pressing had a 'juke box' press-out centre, the second with solid centre.
The only single to have been officially released as a re-issue (in 1979):
The original pressings were held back due to United Artists objecting to Stiff Records recording the band while still under contract with them, even though they had shelved the production of their only legal recording for On Parole. Despite this, the single still managed to hit the streets. Some copies of the Stiff vinyl managed to 'escape', but the Skydog Records and Blitz Records productions were the main source, coming from France and Sweden. When the band left United Artists, Stiff Records put "White Line Fever" onto their 1977 Bunch Of Stiffs rag-bag compilation, later turning up as a bonus track on a compilation album of tracks from the first eleven Stiff singles, Hits Greatest Stiffs.
On April 28, 1979 Lemmy was interview by John Tobler on BBC Radio 1's 'Rock On Saturday' show, "Motörhead", "Leaving Here" and "Limb From Limb" were played.
On May 1, 1980 the band played this song on the BBC TV show Top of the Pops.
