Leah Brahms, a character in the Star Trek fictional universe, was one of the main engineers responsible for developing the warp drive on Galaxy class starships, most notably the USS Enterprise-D. Leah Brahms is played by Susan Gibney.
During a crisis onboard the Enterprise, chief engineer Geordi La Forge created a holodeck representation of Brahms, and later used her mission logs to create a personality for the representation. La Forge came to enjoy working with the Brahms program during this time.
Roughly a year later, La Forge met the real Brahms, who came off as callous and unappreciative of La Forge's modifications to the Enterprise drive system. La Forge wanted to pursue a romantic relationship, but it turns out she was married at the time. She eventually found out about the holodeck program La Forge had created, and turned hostile again. Later, after working with La Forge to save the Enterprise from a "space baby," she realized her arrogance and became friends with La Forge.
In the alternate future timeline of "All Good Things...", La Forge married Leah Brahms and had three children with her (Alandra, Brett, and Sydney). Since the past leading to that future was changed, it is unknown whether the two will actually get together.

The character that became Leah Brahms was originally named Navid Daystrom, a descendant of Dr. Richard Daystrom from the TOS episode "The Ultimate Computer." When the writers found out that Gibney had already been hired for the role, the scriptwriters changed the name. While not impossible, they felt that a proper homage to the TOS Daystrom couldn't be done without an African American actress in the role. References to the Daystrom Institute were added instead.
