The Le Sueur River (luh-SOOR) is a tributary of the Blue Earth River, about 80 mi (130 km) long, in southern Minnesota in the United States. Via the Blue Earth and Minnesota Rivers, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River. It drains an area of about 1,100 sq mi (2850 kmĀ²).

[edit] Course

The Le Sueur River rises in northern Freeborn County and flows in a highly meandering course, initially northward through the southwestern extremity of Steele County and into Waseca County. The river turns westward in Waseca County and flows into Blue Earth County, where it passes the town of St. Clair and receives the Cobb and Maple Rivers. It flows into the Blue Earth River slightly southwest of Mankato, 3 mi (4.8 km) upstream of the Blue Earth's mouth at the Minnesota River.

A minor tributary of the Le Sueur River in Waseca County is known as the Little Le Sueur River.
