[edit] What is LDBot

LDBot is a bot written and maintained by Lightdarkness. It uses the Pywikipedia framework to update content on pages, with a PHP backend doing all the dirty work. Currently, the bot has two functions.

LDBot has taken over the operations of WP:AFD, as AllyUnion (The maintainer of AFDBot) hasn't been around to bring his bot back up to operational status. If you have any comments regarding this feature, please express your opinions on the mentioned pages.

Some questions that I have gotten so far, is if this code is at all based on the original AFD Bot code. The answer is simply no. I've written everything from the ground up, as AllyUnion's code isn't publicly available (An old version of VFDBot's code was available, but it used some old functions from pywikipedia).

LDBot can perform the following AFD functions

  • Create new AFD subpages
  • Update Yesterday page with current day
  • Close previous AFD days
  • Update current discussion list
  • Update old disucssions list
