Please explain any problems on the talk page, rather than just deleting everything... Evercat 13:32, 13 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] RE : Contributions deleted
I would imagine the reasons why some of your contributions are being edited by other members, is that a lot of them are links to Replayradio.co.uk. If one user is updating a lot of different articles with links to a specific website, the assumption could be made that they are advertising their own website. I don't know whether or not the link is valuable to the topics in question, but I can understand why other users might be wary of the intent behind providing such links. [edit] RE : Contributions deleted
Hi,
Thanks for the information about the contributions (Links) being deleted. It seems that the links for replayradio.co.uk are continually being deleted by someone. I agree with you, and others in the help desk / complaints forum, that this could be seen as advertising and it should be discussed.
Replay Radio, however, is non commercial and is set up only for LBC listeners for selected popular LBC shows - hence the link was added to the relevant pages of the LBC presenters which are also on Wikipedia. These links, however, have also been deleted. Replay Radio actually has nothing to gain from adding the links from Wikipedia to Replay Radio as they dont sell anything, they dont even advertise on their web site ! Replay Radio covers the cost of everything and lots of people have given up a lot of their time to get Replay Radio to the stage it is at now. Replay Radio offers a free service which only adds value for people who listen to LBC. The web site is in BETA stage testing and a selected number of people are using it for testing, however, the more people who know about Replay Radio and the more people who can get involved and contribute towards it (and im sure most would agree ) is better. Replay Radio is not a commercial advertisement and will launch soon.
You might want to take a look at Wikipedia:Spam, Wikipedia:Using Wikipedia to gain legitimacy, and Wikipedia talk:Spam#how not to be a spammer to see some general perspectives on this subject. Bovlb 02:06:59, 2005-07-27 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Replay Radio
When is Replay Radiogoing to open. It reckons summer 2005 but it hasent.
Regards, Chris Allen LBC Listener
I seem to recall that site being spammed all over the Wikipedia on various radio entries. All the plugs I've seen have been removed due to the advertised service being nonexistent, or the addition clearly being blatent spam that didn't benefit the entry.
[edit] 84850.co.uk
Sorry to include the link again in this page, I think that this link should remain. The comment of 'quote : plug for petition not of benefit to wiki' may indicate a misinterpretation of why the link is on this and other LBC related pages. This is a big current topic for the radio station and is something that listeners and people wanting to find out or research LBC should participate or know about and thus will more than benefit and add value to Wikipedia. I agree the link should remain for as long as this is a relevant issue for LBC or when the site closes !
[edit] RE : 84850.co.uk
Yes i agree, it would add value to keep this link.
[edit] Crown Communications
At one stage LBC was owned by Crown Communications and called LBC Crown FM
[edit] Lonsdale Board in Canada Removed:
<<LBC is also The Lonsdale Board Company of North Vancouver, B.C. Canada www.sk8dex.com. This Longboard/Skateboard Company was founded By J.S. "Rocky" Anderson in 2002. Specializing in Downhill and bowl riding. This is a grass roots organization that supports the local Downhill community. 604-710-2389.>>
This needs to be reformated...
Or better still, the Lonsdale Board contributer needs to create a separate Wiki entry about the company, not repeatedly post what appears to be little more than an advert for a company website. Just create a new wiki entry called 'Lonsdale Board' or whatever you like.
