Talk:Law of Bermuda

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is there capital punishment in Bermuda?-I thought I read that there was, and that they were about to execute someone, but that because Bermuda is a British colony, and Britain is a member of the EU, the case got to the European Court of Human Rights (the death penalty being completely banned in the EU). So then it became a political football, and some have said Bermuda should become independent so that, among other things, it could retain capital punishment. Does anyone know anything about this?-Perhaps it was another island. 132.235.120.91 19:59, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

  • There's no capital punishment in Bermuda. You do get this problem with some of the islands in the caribbean, though, where there is a death penalty, but there's also a right of appeal to the Privy Council. I'm not sure which islands that applies to though, sorry. Also, I don't think any of them are "colonies" any longer. AndyJones 20:16, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
