Lawrencetown, County Down

Lawrencetown is a small village in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is situated on the road between Banbridge and Portadown. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 629 people.

Lawrencetown is classified as a small village or hamlet by the NI Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) (ie with population between 500 and 1,000 people). On Census day (29 April 2001) there were 629 people living in Lawrencetown. Of these:

  • 24.6% were aged under 16 years and 16.7% were aged 60 and over
  • 50.4% of the population were male and 49.6% were female
  • 87.4% were from a Catholic background and 12.1% were from a Protestant background
  • 3.1% of people aged 16-74 were unemployed
