Latin Grammy Award for Song of the Year

The Song of the Year is one of the most prestigious awards given at the Latin Grammy Awards cerimony. It has been awarded since 2000 to the composer of the song in question. It is always the case that one or more recordings are nominated for both Song of the Year and Record of the Year, and one recording may be awarded both awards.
Alejandro Sanz is the biggest winner, with five victories (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006). Shakira became the first female winner in 2006.
