Latin American poetry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Latin American poetry is the poetry of Latin America. It is Spanish- and Portuguese-language poetry written by writers from (starting from the South) Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, the Spanish-speaking portion of Belize, and even the United States. Some may also consider poetry written in other languages such as Portunol, Guarani, Quechua, Aymara, Mapudungun, Mayan, Oaxacan to be part of this class, as well as work written in English, French, Italian, German, Hebrew, and Arabic by writers from immigrant communities where these languages have persisted.
