Latent Recordings
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Latent Recordings is a Canadian independent record label owned and operated by Cowboy Junkies. The label distributed the band’s first two albums, 1986’s Whites Off Earth Now!! and 1988’s The Trinity Session, in Canada. In 1988, the band signed to RCA, rereleasing The Trinity Session internationally and retiring the independent label.
After the band was released from their contract with Geffen Records following their 1998 album Miles From Our Home, they revived Latent Recordings and have released their subsequent albums on that label in Canada. The records have been licensed to other independent labels, such as Zoe Records in the United States and Strange Fruit Records in the UK, for international release.
The label has also distributed records by a the two bands that preceded the Cowboy Junkies, and one that was produced by Michael Timmins.
