". A suspension bridge, located just outside the airport, used to lead travellers into downtown Santo Domingo; this bridge has now been closed and substituted by two more modern bridges. "

This is very inaccurate. The airport is located 30km ( approx. 20 miles ) from the city proper. The suspension bridge which still remains ( puente Duarte ) is now one way with a more modern bridge immediately South of it (Pres. Juan Bosh) going in the opposite direction. Both bridges connect the east and west bank of the Ozama river together with 4 other bridges. They have nothing to do with the airport other than the road that spawns from them does lead you to it 30 kms later.
