"Last Nite" is a single lifted from Is This It, the debut album of acclaimed American garage rock/post-punk band The Strokes. The song is known for its catchy beat and solo by Albert Hammond Jr..

In March 2005, Q magazine placed "Last Nite" at number 66 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.

In September 2006, NME placed "Last Nite" at number 1 in its list of the 50 Greatest Tracks Of The Decade, in celebration of 10 years of nme.com.

The Strokes riff in this song is very similar to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' "American Girl." In a 2006 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Tom Petty said "The Strokes took 'American Girl' [for their song "Last Nite"], and I saw an interview with them where they actually admitted it. That made me laugh out loud. I was like, 'OK, good for you.' It doesn’t bother me [1]." This was brought up because of plagarism accusations on the Red Hot Chili Peppers for similiarities between their "Dani California" and Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance." Petty has stated that he does not care about any similiarities and The Strokes have actually played as an opening act for Tom Petty in summer of 2006.
