The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar |
To Lar, for being a kind administrator, for taking the time to assist other editors, and for doing the little things that make others "time in Wikipedia super" (to quote User:ForestH2). -- Samir धर्म 02:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC) |

The Civility Barnstar |
Lar, I've wanted to give you this for multiple contributions throughout the project for some time, but this conversation is an excellent example. Your continued civility under trying circumstances is impressive. AnonEMouse (squeak) 13:47, 31 August 2006 (UTC) |

The da Vinci Barnstar |
Thank you for your assistance at WP:ANI and at WT:SRNC. It takes a bold move for someone to finally put their foot down at a user like SPUI in an effort to reach a consensus, keep editors from bailing out of Wikipedia, and to bring more civility and peace to this whole naming mess. Kudos and thank you for your service! Seicer (talk) (contribs) 19:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC) |

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar |
As a supervising admin, Lar helped resolve one of the most contentious, mind-numbing, extensive disputes in Wikipedia history over the naming of state highways. For this commendable and exhausting work, he deserves the eternal gratitude and Wiki-love of every Wikipedian. Xoloz 16:52, 9 October 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] VERY special department
[edit] Cool stuff
One gateway to the wide garden
of knowledge, where lies
The deep rock of our past,
in which we must delve
the well of our future,
The clear water we must leave untainted
for those who come after us,
The fertile earth, in which
truth may grow in bright places,
tended by many hands,
And the broad fall of sunshine,
warming our first steps toward knowing
how much we do not know.

Where to write about current events
The current events portal is used to describe current world-wide events of note, not just in politics, but also in science, culture, technology, sports, entertainment and many other areas. The information in question should be added to any relevant articles as well. However, Wikipedia does not offer first-hand news reports on breaking stories (use Wikinews for that). Instead, the In the news section on the Main Page mentions and links to entries of timely interest that are (and this is crucial) nonetheless encyclopedia articles that have been updated to reflect an important current event. Non-Administrators can suggest items or changes to this Main Page section by editing the candidates page, from which administrators will update the live template from time to time.
