[edit] History

The brewery was founded in 1873, but the name Lapin Kulta was not adopted until 1969. The brewery had to acquire a mining company with an identical name in order to be able to carry the name under Finnish law. For a long time the company described their activities as "gold mining and beer brewing".

[edit] Brief details

The name means Gold of Lapland in the Finnish language. Lapin Kulta's focus on high quality ingredients (malt barley, clear water, and their own yeast strain) coupled with successful marketing made it the most popular brand in Finland. After a merger with the Hartwall beverage company in 1980, the brand name entered the export market and by now it is available in most European countries.

[edit] Beer

The most well known brand name is Lapin Kulta which is used on a variety of lagers of varying strengths.

Lapin Kulta is said to have an aromatic and fruity nose and a crisp and smooth taste.
