[edit] Warning about a page
The page is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereditary_Education_Policy. This gives an alleged policy of state government in India in the early 1950s. But no references by way of the governments policy paper or the governments decisions are given. It simply gets into very one sided POV by quoting from the political oppoenents of that particular governement. What is given is not knowledge but mudslinging for politicl purposes. I would ask the Wiki administrators to remove or edit it so that at least the readers know that there is no references to original 'policy' documents , if such a policy existed. I tried to edit it along these lines, but it was disallowed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.195.10.170 (talk • contribs).
- Hey man. Thanks for letting me know about this. After further review of your edits, I'm pretty much in agreement with you. I originally reverted your edit because you took too much information out (including the reference section). However, the other parts of the article that you removed are strong POV and definitely don't belong in an encyclopedia. Feel free to continue working on the article, and you can even create an account to help you with the task. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. – Lantoka (talk) 21:48, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Government documents and cleanup
Lantoka .You have been a great contributor to Wikipedia .Thank you very much for that.I really admire your work. This is with reference to Hereditary_Education_Policy.I am surprised by a new user demand for Government policy documents which if made mandotary for all pages it will decades and millions to get all documents from over 200 countries .To ask for cleanup as there is no references to original 'policy' documents is surprising The article POV is backed by citations by the User Harlowraman. Moreover while one can ask for Government policy documents of recent times it is not possible 1950's or so when there was no internet access.Secondly user 80.195.10.170 has no knowledge about what is called as per him We don't have original records namely Government Orders of the then Madras Government to show what this policy entailed and how and what extent it was impleneted with what results If he wants to edit please ask him to do with citations.
Please review these pages also. The issue of untouchablity and those who fought it is a very emotive issue between Brahmins and Non brahmins in South India. These comments are uncitated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periyar_Ramasami#Life_and_beliefs http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periyar_Ramasami#Leader_of_Dravidar_Kazhagam It includes comments like The Dravidar Kazhagam was patterned after the Nazi Party - its black-shirted storm troopers were prone to anti-Brahmin violence. Its conferences prominently displayed lewd caricatures of Brahmins - somewhat patterned after Julius Streicher's Der Sturmer. They have no citation.
Secondly Government policy documents are not required under Wikipedia rules while citations are .Please correct me if I am wrong .I would welcome that.Tametiger talk
[edit] Thank you for voting
Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Thank you all once more. Wikiwoohoo 20:00, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] No worries
You're welcome! That guy got back to me too, something about challenging me to block him. Eh?! Anyway, my pleasure :) riana_dzasta 18:45, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: An Idea
Interesting idea. I certainly agree that there's plenty of possibilities with our beautiful campus and Expo Park. Problem is, of course: we need to get a photo that meets the sometimes brutal feature picture criteria that is left up to the subjective opinions of whoever's paying attention to the nominees at the time. The photo needs to be high resolution (which is actually the opposite of what Wikipedia normally advises), in addition to being good color/composition with a minimum of other issues. I've nominated one photo (very early on) and it was defeated for some curious reasons (image in question). For non-historic photos, the standards are high --if you can track down such a photo; let me know and I'll help with the nomination. My old camera might have been able to take a FP-quality photo for the first few years, but I've subjected to such abuse that I don't trust it for quality high-res anymore. --Bobak 19:31, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My RFA
- | Hello Lantoka! I want to thank you for taking time to comment in my recent request for adminship. Though it didn't succeed, I value everyone's opinion, and hope to use the descriptions of the neutral and oppose votes to improve. TeckWizTalkContribs@ 22:52, 13 December 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] NPOV I am surprised Hereditary Education Policy
I am see you have contributed a lot to Wikipedia and you a regular patroller of Wikipedia.WELL DONE.It is due to efforts of people like you that the site runs .THANKS A LOT.Yesterday my talk Harlowraman was vandalised by someone asking me to delete this article which I felt was wrong. He simply wants the article removed.I have asked the person who vandalised this page 9 times including 3 times today. To do a positive edit by describing your point of view regarding the Educational system reforms of Rajaji between 1952-1954 which includes Kula Kalvi thittam and not Negative edits ie by removing content. Please provide his point of view with citations. He has not added a word only deleted contents 6 times. It is in the Notice board for India-related topics ,why raise NPOV now ?.The person vandalising it has no knowledge about Educational system reforms of Rajaji between 1952-1954 and just wants to vandalise it.Why add NPOV ?Actually I have asked for protection for the page.It seems to reward him.Further I believe only if there is libellous content or if someone with knowledge of Educational system reforms of Rajaji between 1952-1954 raised any objection.which I feel is not there in this article. Please correct me if I am wrong,I would welcome it. Further The official government site is http://www.tn.gov.in/government.htm .The offical government site is not updated before the 1990's.You can check this by visiting the site. hence not able to give government references.Harlowraman 13:25, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
