From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Langebro is the first track on Gasolin's first album Gasolin'. It is written by Kim Larsen, Wili Jönsson and Franz Beckerlee. Langebro is one of Gasolin's most popular songs. Langebro is a bridge in Copenhagen. The lyric gives an insight to the darker side of society in Copenhagen. Gasolin was concerned about the poor and helpless and this was often reflected in their lyrics.

[edit] Danish lyrics

Da jeg gik ud over Langebro
en tidlig mandag morgen
da så jeg en der stod og græd
Hvis du tør - så kom med mig

Jeg gik forbi dæmonernes port
ud for Kofoeds Skole
der stod en flok og drak sig ihjel
Hvis du tør - så kom med mig

Jeg mødte en der gik rundt med "Vågn OP"
hun var Jehovas vidne
Hun råbte: Jorden går under idag
Hvis du tør - så kom med mig

Jeg så en kvinde der løb efter sin mand
hun havde så skønne øjne
Hun råbte: Hey, du har stjålet mit liv
Hvis du tør - så kom med mig

[edit] English translation

When I went over Long Bridge
an early Monday morning
then I saw one who was crying
If you dare - then come with me

I went by the gate of demons
in front of Kofoed's School
there was a crowd who was drinking themselves to death
If you dare - then come with me

I met one who walked around with "Awake!"
she was Jehovah's Witness
She shouted: The Earth ends today
If you dare - then come with me

I saw a woman who ran after her husband
she had so wonderful eyes
She shouted: Hey, you have stolen my life
If you dare - then come with me
