[edit] Accreditation

LCC is fully accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, which is, in turn, recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and/or the U.S. Department of Education.

[edit] Geography and layout

LCC is located in the extreme southeast section of Eugene, just west of I-5 and is, essentially, built into a hillside. There are 19 buildings located in the main campus, and the fourth floor on one end of the campus is slightly below ground floor on the other end. The Center building serves as the library, bookstore, cafeteria, and the majority of the English and language classrooms. Students First! is the campus student center for enrollment and bookkeeping.

LCC's campus is fully accessible for wheelchairs and mobility impaired, and has a network of concrete bridges that connect neighboring buildings. Parking surrounds the campus on 3 sides omitting the front lawn. Entering campus from the West side lot, there is a newly renovated courtyard that used to serve as large concrete fountain, but was recently turned into a flat maze garden speckled with native plants and a small stone fountain in the middle.

Evergreen forest is seen facing west from the campus, and trails are intertwined into the brush, being used for some physical education classes.

[edit] KLCC

Lane Community College owns the license for NPR affiliate KLCC. It broadcasts on a frequency of 89.7 mhz in Eugene and on various other repeater frequencies at other cities in West Central Oregon. The station is noteworthy for its eclectic music blend, both on its weekday program "Fresh Tracks" and on various programs that focus on specific musical genres. Its programming schedule is rounded out with the flagship NPR newsmagazines Morning Edition, Weekend Edition and All Things Considered, a locally produced newsmagazine called Northwest Passage, Car Talk, and public affairs and discussion.
