Lane, West Yorkshire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lane Village is a small hamlet 3 miles above the town of Holmfirth on the edge of Holme Moss. Between Holme and the Peak District National Park boundary, which crosses the A6024 Woodhead Road, on the southern edge of the village, then passes along its western edge to Holme village. The rainwater springs seeping from the surrounding moorland provides the source of the River Holme.
The village is comprised of farmhouses, some private homes and has long been associated with the Girl Guides Association by the addition of a small training centre, based in some refurbished buildings.
Above the village is the Holme Moss radio transmitter, which is situated 526 metres above sea level and 200 metres tall.
