Landscape design

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Landscape design is a subset of landscape architecture. Landscape planning is concerned with large scale projects implemented over a long period of time and a wide geographical area. Landscape design is concerned with smaller projects often implemented by one contract in a defined period of time. Landscape design is distinguished from garden design in that it tends to be for public and corporate clients, whereas gardens are normally designed for private clients. It is also distinguished from landscape architecture by referring specifically to the practical skill of producing a design for a public open space. Landscape architecture is a broader term which embraces garden design, landscape management, landscape engineering, landscape detailing, landscape assessment and all the sub-categories of landscape planning.
