Lanarkshire (UK Parliament constituency)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lanarkshire was a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1708 to 1868, when it was divided into Lanarkshire North and Lanarkshire South.

The Northern Division was further divided in 1885, forming Lanarkshire North-East, Lanarkshire North-West, Lanarkshire Mid, Govan and Partick.

The Lanarkshire constituencies were again reorganised in 1918 to form the Bothwell, Coatbridge, Hamilton, Lanark, Motherwell, Rutherglen and Lanarkshire Northern constituencies.
