Lambda Lambda Lambda or Tri-Lam is a fictional fraternity in the Revenge of the Nerds movie series.

A group of nerds at Adams College wish to start a fraternity to gain collegiate political power after being persecuted by the jock fraternity Alpha Beta. After being turned down by every other fraternity, the national office of Tri-Lam awards them a probational charter when the nerds appeal to a mandatory policy guaranteeing them this provision in the Tri-Lam handbook.

It should be noted that Tri-Lam is a fraternity that is shown to be historically black, however after the executive council of the national fraternity sees the persecution that the nerds are going through, a charter is given to them. Furthermore, when the leadership learned the chapter's residence was trashed upon winning the leadership of student council, the fraternity president returned to Adams with a number of Lambda members of imposing builds who could intimidate the Alpha Betas so the chapter could protest without interference. It is never revealed whether or not any nerd Tri-Lam chapters exist outside of Adams College. The Tri-Lam's formed a special bond with the Adams' sorority, the Omega Mu's.

[edit] Origins

Lambda is the letter representative of the english 'L' ... hence an inside joke: LLL one letter up is KKK, much like HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey being 1 letter off from IBM.

[edit] Fraternal Theme Song

The lyrics to their song are as follows:

Lambda Lambda Lambda, is our fraternity;
We are her royal subjects, and she is our queen bee.
We have no groups excluded, we don't discriminate;
We just ask that you keep your G-P-A at 3.8

This is likely only used by the chapter at Adams College, since it is full of nerds who are likely to keep their grade point averages above 3.8.
