Lakshadweepa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lakshadweepa means one hundred thousand islands in Sanskrit. It refers to the three archipelagos in the Indian Ocean, namely the Laccadives, Maldives and Suvadives.

Today the Laccadives belong to India as part of the territory of Lakshadweep, and the Maldives and Suvadives archipelagos collectively form the Republic of Maldives.
