Lakka, Greece

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The village of Lakka, is situated on Paxos or Paxi, a Greek Island in the Ionian Sea approximately nine miles south of Corfu. Lakka is the second largest village in size on the northern end of Paxos and is flanked by silver green olive groves and cypress trees. The picturesque fishing village is located on a natural, almost circular harbor created by two headlands sheltering the bay from the open sea.

The two main beaches, sandy Kanoni and white pebbled Harami, lead to the very clear turquoise sea. A frequent tourism village, yachts are often seen in the bay. The bay is also frequented by windsurfers, snorklers and swimmers.

The authentic Greek atmosphere of narrow streets and squares is felt in the village of Lakka along side the Venetian influenced olive groves. The open air tavernas offer a wide variety of both Greek and Italian foods.
