Lakhey (Nepal Bhasa:लाखे, lā-khé) is a famous character in Newar culture. It is a demon character popularized by its dance.

The word "lakhey) comes from two Nepal Bhasa words "laa" and "khen". Laa meaning meat and khen meaning egg. Lakhey were carnivorous demons. Hence, they were named on the basis of the diet they consumed.
