Lake States Transportation Division

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lake States Transportation Division (LSTD) was created to become the portion of the original Soo Line Railroad main and branches that the Wisconsin Central eventually purchased. When Soo Line acquired Milwaukee Road (CMSTP&P) in 1985 it formed LSTD in 1986 to largely acquire responsibility to operate the original Forest Park, Illinois, to Withrow, Minnesota, (Minneapolis) main line, the section of original track from Withrow to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, the Argonne to Neenah section of track and certain Milwaukee Road properties between Green Bay and Milwaukee in the general territory. This track that was LSTD (former Soo Line) was acquired by Wisconsin Central Ltd in 1987. From the formation of LSTD until sale, LSTD operated tri-weekly service on most lines, and certain branch lines less frequently than tri-weekly.
