The average annual tuition at LHPS is $12,354 ($8,975 for Pre-Kindergarten, $9,975 for Kindergarten, $11,850 for 1-5, $12,850 for 6, $13,650 for 7-12).

New students pay two fees within two weeks of acceptance. The first is a $1,200.00 deposit, which is applied to tuition. The second is a $1,250.00 new student fee. Returning students pay a $1,200.00 re-enrollment deposit annually, which is applied to tuition. This non-refundable deposit reserves a student's place for the upcoming school year, subject to the student's satisfactory completion of the current year.

Families may choose between three tuition payment plans: one annual payment, two semester payments, or 10 monthly payments. A finance charge of 12% applies to the semester and monthly payment plans. Tuition does not include charges for textbooks, Advanced Placement exams, athletic spirit packs, certain field trips, and graduation. These fees and similar charges vary by grade level and will be charged where applicable. Tuition refund insurance is required of all new families for two years and is optional thereafter.

Their athletic teams are known as the Highlanders. During the 1990s the football team was quite successful in their division. Max Starks (a starting offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers) is a graduate of Lake Highland. Their primary rival is Trinity Preparatory School. The official school colors are red and white (with black as a common, but unofficial, tertiary color).

Former Minnesota Twins pitcher and 1987 World Series MVP Frank Viola is the school's baseball coach. His daughter, competitive diver Brittany Viola, graduated from the school in 2005.

Lake Highland is most well known to nearby schools for its athletic facilities, which include state-of-the-art swimming and diving (which consists of the 1996 Olympics swimming pool, along with a poolhouse and a miniature pool) and track facilities. Many other local schools use these facilities for their own practices.
