Lake Bluff West Elementary School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lake Bluff West Elementary School (Usually referred to by Lake Bluff residents as "West School") was originally an elementary school in Knollwood, IL, although the building has housed many other things besides a school. The school was built in 1960, and was originally meant for all grades. In the original Lake Bluff school plan, there were three schools in Lake Bluff, IL: East School, Central School, and West School, to serve children living on the (respectively) East, Central, and West sides of the village. Eventually, Lake Bluff Middle School was built, and the entire school district changed. West School has since been occupied by a church, State Senator, "Knollwood Neighbors", a pre-school, and a Day Care Center. It is currently home to Lake BLuff Shields Township. The building has since fallen into somewhat disrepair, and has an estimated value of 2 Million Dollars. When originally constructed, Lake Bluff Central Elementary School was built exactly the same as West School, but after remodeling and additions, the two buldings no longer resemble each other.
