[edit] Summary

w:Sun Lake State Park, Washington, USA. Lichens decorate the rocks in oranges, yellows and greens. The occasional winter snowfall adds to the contrast with the dark basalt walls. These caves were created when whirlpool-like floodwaters from the Ice Age Floods sucked rocks out of the basalt walls.
