I live in Ladera heights There are not that many African American

Having friends in Ladera Heights and knowing the area. I can say that it is far more than 30% African American. I'd estimate that it is probably about 60% African-American.

I lived in Ladera heights from 1970 to 1977, on Halm Ave. On our street, there was perhaps one black family (I was best friends with the young son), but that was it, the rest were very white. I do remember that the local elementary school had far more black children than the neighborhood. This may have been a result of forced busing (a program where racial integration was mandatory in schools), I'm not sure. My parents left Ladera Heights because they felt uncomfortable with the influx of blacks. I was 7 at the time and had no say in the matter!
