Lady Sarah Chatto

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lady Sarah Frances Elizabeth Chatto, née Armstrong-Jones, (born 1 May 1964) is the only daughter of the 1st Earl of Snowdon and Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, the second daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (later The Queen Mother. She is 15th in the line of succession to the British Throne and at the time of her birth was seventh. She is the only niece of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. She and her cousin the Princess Royal were the only granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, who is said to have doted on them.

She was born at Kensington Palace in London.

Lady Sarah married Daniel Chatto on 14 July 1994, the marriage being officiated by the Reverend Chad Varah. Together the couple have two children:

Lady Sarah attended the Camberwell School of Art and Middlesex Polytechnic and is currently a professional painter. She is also Vice President of the Royal Ballet, an appointment she accepted in 2004, following the example of her mother who was a patron for the Royal Ballet.

She and her brother, Viscount Linley, have attracted far less media attention than their cousins, the Queen's children, and their mother interfered very little in their professional and personal lives, which some believe has lead to their success in both areas.
