Lady Liberty (comics)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lady Liberty, a fictional character of the DC Universe, served as a member of the Force of July. Her costume consisted of robes and a crown based off of the Statue of Liberty, and spoke with a French accent. Although not explored fully, it was alluded to in comics that she was romantically involved with Major Victory (William Vickers).
Her powers primarily consisted of energy blasts from her torch, and her tablet had some limited ability towards missile deflection. A longtime foe of the Outsiders, Lady Liberty would ultimately die during the Janus Directive, sacrificing herself to destroy Kobra's heavy weapon platforms to save the Earth from Kobra's machinations.
In "Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Blüdhaven", a new Lady Liberty appeared with a new Silent Majority and Major Victory. They call themselves Freedom's Ring and are employed by the government to watch over Blüdhaven from any trespassing metahumans. Recently, this Lady Liberty was killed by Nuclear Legion member Geiger.
She was replaced by another Lady Liberty, and Freedom's Ring has been absorbed into S.H.A.D.E. The third Lady liberty was stabbed through the chest by Ravager and died.
A fourth Lady Liberty appeared in the pages of Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters.
