La straniera
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
La straniera (English: The Stranger) is an opera in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini (1829), from a libretto by Felice Romani, based on L'étrangère (1825) by Charles-Victor Prévot, vicomte d'Arlincourt.
It received its first performance at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan on 14 February 1829.
The opera was revived in 1968 at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, with Renata Scotto in the title role, followed in 1969 by a concert performance at Carnegie Hall with Montserrat Caballé under the baton of Anton Guadagno. Recordings exist of both these performances.
