La mauvaise tête, written and drawn by Franquin, is the eight album in the Spirou et Fantasio series. It was initially published progressively in segments, in Le Journal de Spirou, before released as a complete hardcover album in 1957.
[edit] Story
In The Wrong Head, due to a few missing passport photos, Fantasio finds himself a victim of a conspiracy to frame him as the thief of an invaluable Egyptian gold mask. Looking very guilty, he is forced to attempt to run from the law, escaping the city disguised as a bicyclist in the 6 day mountain endurance tour of Midiville, leaving Spirou alone the tough task to expose the real villain and clear Fantasio's name.
This album also contains Touchez pas aux rouges-gorges (Don't Touch the Robins), a short story that describes the Marsupilami's relationship with little birds, while vacationing (during the Marsupilami-free story La mauvaise tête) in the Count of Champignac's castle park.
[edit] Background
This classic tale of an innocent wrongly accused, is presented in the paced, cinematic storytelling style that is typical of Franquin's strongest work. The combination of line style and noir tension establishes a peak in the chain of Spirou adventures.
