La Encarnación (Asunción)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

La Encarnación is a barrio (neighbourhood) of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. It is located fairly close to the Paraguay River and the downtown area of Asunción, which is the reason why this barrio has a lot of traditional and colonial buildings. It has a population of 4,928 people. The name "La Encarnación" comes from the Christian meaning of the Incarnation (when Jesus was miraculously conceived by the Virgin Mary).

Some important sites in this barrio are the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the five-star hotel "Excelsior" and the shopping mall of the same name (located in front of each other), the private Italian school "Dante Alighieri", the Church of La Encarnación, the shopping center "Asunción Supercentro" and the famous bakery "La Negrita".
