La Cornue

La Cornue is a French company, founded in 1908 by Albert Dupuy, a Parisian herbalist and perfumer, that specialises in the manufacture of exclusive large ovens and cooking ranges.

Philosophy:

Paris, 1908. Albert Dupuy, a gastronome and artisan with a passion for new technologies, decided to take advantage of the brand new distribution of gas for lighting in Paris in order to perfect what already was striving to be the world's best range. That was how at the dawn of the 20th century the first “La Cornue Rôtisseuse-Pâtissière with gas circulation” came out. Technology:

This brand new oven exploited the principle of the natural circulation of hot air in a revolutionary oven that was then described as the “vault of a metro”. Forty years later, the 1950's would be the golden age of “Home Economics”. André Dupuy, with his walrus moustache took Albert's place. He was obviously an epicurean, a skilful technician and a bold creator.

La Cornue was modernised and the models become more and more diversified. However the objective of the La Cornue did not change: a La Cornue oven must provide connoisseurs with the absolute best. The “5 Etoiles” ovens in the Château® Line are the crowning element of the range and bring it into the realm of truly superlative items. In 1985, André passed the torch to Xavier. La Cornue courageously withstood the storms of the economic slumps and successfully took on new technological challenges. At the head of the company, Xavier Dupuy modernised and innovated while still continuing to strive for excellence with rigor and determination. He propelled the La Cornue onto the worldwide stage.

Only noble materials are carefully selected and chosen for their quality and longevity: cast-iron, stainless steel, solid brass, solid coper nickel, chrome and porcelain enamel.

Every Château®, every Cornuchef® is handassembled by a single craftsman who adds the all-important finishing touches to our own uncompromising standards of quality. Each La Cornue is monitored and tested at every stage of the manufacturing process. Each La Cornue is unique and hand built to order.

The various models in the Château® line combine our famous vaulted oven and its airtight seamless door, a solid stainless steel top, the indispensable cast-iron solid top and the exclusive La Cornue solid brass burners.
